Professional learning is a journey, not a lecture.
Designing holistic, equity-oriented, relational learning and intervention systems
We partner with your school or organization to create a space where students are engaged as active partners in creating safe, high-quality, reclaiming learning environments. We do this by developing systems that de-emphasize force and power and encourage self-determination.
Mentorship Teaching
Our customized professional development program working with school faculties and education staffs.
Using a variety of professional development modalities, educators learn about why students who exhibit difficult behaviors act in a variety of ways that interfere with learning and relationship development. Interactive workshops are only the beginning, our real-time collaborative coaching model empowers professional practice leading to peer coaching and peer problem solving. In other words, not just a toolkit or a product, but a system that will continue professional growth after consultation ends.
Intervention Navigation
Many schools that use multi-tiered support systems (MTSS) have have misused interventions or need additional interventions to support students.
Schools and youth serving organizations need a suite of interventions to provide support to all students, but putting systems in place can be daunting. We help you assess, develop and implement interventions that work for educators and students. Whether strengthening an overall framework or training for specific intervention, we bring the expertise you need and stay with you every step of the way.
Support System Design + Build Capacity
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, many educators and school leaders were becoming increasingly worried about student mental health and wellness. There is a generation of data indicating this has been a long and growing crisis.
There is no one “right” way to embed wellness supports for students, but there are many models that schools can implement depending on their needs. We help schools design support systems and build the capacity of the entire school community to support students wellness and mental health at the school level.
Learning Services Consulting
Youth serving organizations often have challenges in securing free, appropriate education services for school age children and youth. We provide education program consultation with mental health programs, foster care agencies, attorneys, and social workers developing schooling plans for students with disabilities. This includes program development for Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Section 504 programs. This can include providing expert advising in legal matters and in court.
Because nonprofit agencies offer free IEP advocacy services, we generally do not work with individual families seeking IEP consulting with public schools. Where possible we will refer parents to a nonprofit offering free advocacy services to families.
We are able to collaborate with families and private schools to develop programming for students with disabilities.
Education Media Consulting
In an increasingly competitive market, creative media publishers need thoughtful expertise.
We design of education media and curriculum materials that engage students and adult learners that support the work of creatives. We provide subject matter expertise allowing media publishers to deliver quality products.
How we work together
We start with a framework that is based on your organizational principles and values. We don’t start with a solution or one intervention and force it to work in your setting. We work collaboratively to find solutions that work for you. We know that there is no one intervention, framework, or data collection instrument that is “perfect” for every context. As a matter of fact, we don’t sell a single proprietary product or service. Instead we work together finding the right set of solutions, products, and interventions that work for you.
